Your parents have given you a lot throughout the years. Be it financial support for your education, weekly allowances before you land your first job, or the occasional treat for just being you, they’ve truly been a real foundation for your growth.
And now that you finally have an established career, it’s time to give back to your loved ones. The best way to do so is to celebrate their special day together, be it a birthday, an anniversary, or whatever occasion that has a special place in their hearts. Here are some of the most creative and unexpected ways to celebrate those special days.
Make it a Mini Family Reunion
It may not be a major holiday, but a parent’s birthday can still be a reason to drive or fly back home with your siblings and their respective families. It doesn’t matter how much it costs or how long it takes to go back home; the presence of the whole brood makes an event extra special.
Don’t wait for your brother or sister to organize; take the initiative and tell them about your plan. And if they’re thinking about the cost, it’s time to step up and give them a bit of help. You can tell your parents that you’re coming over, but don’t disclose that you’re bringing the whole family with you. Showing up unexpectedly on their special day is already a gift that they won’t forget for a long time.
Throw a Children’s Party
Remember the time when you begged your parents to throw you a party, and they obliged as if it was nothing? Now that you’re a parent, you already know how hard it is to throw one: the financial aspect, the logistics, and everything else. Back then, there weren’t a lot of services offering party rentals in Utah. But now, everything could be arranged through a call or a visit to their website. All you need to do is plan the party, gather the entire family, and surprise your parents on their special day. This is a children’s party, so technically, you’re also throwing this for the grandkids. The joy that these young ones will experience will also put a smile on their grandparents’ faces.
Check off a Bucket List Item
Living with them for a huge chunk of your life, you’d know some of the things they’d want to experience but are financially constrained. Try to see if you can help them do these. Traveling to their dream destination is one of the things that they might be interested in.
Just be prepared during their flight, ready their accommodations, and bring a bit of pocket money to explore the area with. Another good example would be to drive a sports car. If buying one is too much, you can always rent one or borrow one from a friend. You don’t need to let them drive though, just let them ride shotgun, and put the pedal to the metal for some adrenaline-pumping good time. If they want to try skydiving and they’re not too old to do so, go ahead and sign them up for a session. They’ll be partnered with a professional skydiver, and they’ll have an experience that they’ll never forget.
